You can download many calculators on the net to replace the default one of your PDA. However, very few can process complex operations and almost none can process important expressions. Many of these programs try to exactly copy the functionality of usual calculator you can find on the market. However they forget that programming can improve and simplify a lot of these old electronic boxes to be more efficient. It's the reason why we developed this new application for PocketPC, to have a powerful calculator without the defects of the electronic one and to be able to solve complex expressions.

BlueCalc is a new powerful expression calculator and formula processor. It's very useful for doctors, businessmen, scientist, students and everyday use. It looks good and is easy to use. Hidden in the background there is a strong interpreter that can immediately process any mathematical operations and very complex expressions.

An additional tool has been greatly optimized to customize and process your own formulae.

This calculator is one of the best you can find because it is really useful, powerful and perfectly optimized. It was first developed for doctors especially anesthetists, internists and pediatricians. BlueCalc will be quickly indispensable for all the professions that need a friendly calculator.

Just click on the BlueCalc setup file to start the automatic installation process. You can choose the defaut installation folder ( " \Program Files\BlueCalc\ " ) or a memory card. Once the automatic installation is finished, launch BlueCalc with the shortcut in the start menu.

Until you buy the registration code you will be able to start BlueCalc 15 times. After that you will have to register. Each time you launch the software you will be informed of how many times you can use it again.

Enter the expression of your choice with the numeric pad. Use the brackets to precise in which order you want to solve the expression.

Get the result with the " EXE " (execute) button.

Clear the display with " AC ".

The left arrow " <- " is a backspace function to correct the previous character you inserted.

The exponent is the " E " button. Ex: 5E2 = 5*(10^2) = 500.

Button " Del " is the usual delete function.

The " Ans " function inserts the last result you obtained by clicking on " EXE ".

Go back to your previous expression with the " Back " button of the upper menu.

The history button " Hist " opens a window that contains the last 10 expressions and results. Click on the line of your choice to insert it in the main display. Click outside this windows to close it.

To get more functions click on " More " to open a first window of trigonometric, statisctic and Boolean functions. If you click on " < bool > ", a second window shows the hexadecimal number A to F. Click on " < trigo > " to go back to the first window. Click outside to close this window.

The trigonometric functions sin, cos, tan, asin (arc sin), acos (arc cos), atan (arc tan), sec (secant), csc (cosecant), cot (cotangent), sinh (hyperbolic sin), cosh (hyperbolic cos), tanh (hyperbolic tan) give the trigonometric result of a value specified in degree.

The trigonometric functions rsin, rcos, rtan, rasin (arc sin), racos (arc cos), ratan (arc tan), rsec (secant), rcsc (cosecant), rcot (cotangent), rsinh (hyperbolic sin), rcosh (hyperbolic cos), rtanh(hyperbolic tan) give the result of a value specified in radians.

Convert the decimal result of the expression in binary, hexadecimal or octal with the functions " -->Bin " , " -->Hex ", " -->Oct ". Ex: 3+2-->Bin = b[0101].

If you need to enter a number with a different base than decimal, use the functions " b[x] " (x in binary), " h[x] " (x in hexadecimal), " o[x] " (x in octal). Ex: 2+b[0101]=7.

The statistical factorial function !(x) gives the factorial value of x. Ex: !4 = 4*3*2*1 = 24.

Get the square root with the function r(x). Ex: 2+ = 2+r16 = 6.

To raise x to the power of 2, select x². Ex: 2+3² = 2+3^2 = 11.

To raise x to the power of y, select x. Ex: 5+2³ = 5+2^3 = 13.

Log (base 10 logarithm) and ln (natural logarithm). Ex: 2+log 20 = 3.301...

The number pi can be substituted by pi=3.14... Ex: 1+pi^2= 10.86...

The formulae processor allows you to customize your own formulae. You only have to enter the variable to get the result.

To customize a new formula, first select the edit mode (right picture). Click on the button " New " to create a new blank formula. Write the main title and the second title to give a short description of the formula. On the right of the main title insert the unit of the result of your formula. Insert your formula with the variables (max 4 variables). The variables of the formula must be exactly the same as the variable Var 1-4. Specify the unit of Var 1-4. At the bottom there is a window to store a more detailed description of your formula. When finished you can press on the " Save " button to store your formula immediately into the formulae list. However this operation is automatically done when you leave this edit mode to go to the formulae processor or the calculator. If you quit the software your formulae are automatically saved. In the process mode type the value of your variable and then press on "Proceed" to get the result.

The formulae list shows the 9 last selected formulas. To select the other formulae (until 100 formulae), click on the button " x " to open the full formulae list. This last selected formula is automatically added to the last selected formulae list.

To delete a formula select and then press "Delete". A warning message asks you if you really want to delete the selected formula.

The " ? " button of the toolbar opens a window with general option.

You can select the registration window to enter the code you have bought.

Your formulae can be saved in a file with your name, which is useful to share files with friends or to preserve several versions of your formulae. You can add a file of formulae that is stored in " \My documents" folder to your formulae. Eventually, you can load a formulae file that will replace the actual one. To do so you must save the actual formulae before.

There's an option to switch between two font sizes for your recent formulae list window.

You can load background bitmaps stored in your " \My documents" folder. These bitmap files (.bmp) must be 24bit width > 240 pixels and the height = 270 pixels. Try the free background bitmaps.

When you buy this software you get the registration code after 24-48 hours. It allows you to unlock the protection. The demo and release version are exactly the same so you don't need to download the software again when you buy it. Only the code is important. This registration code is linked to your first and last name that you have given when bought the software. So when you register, fill the form with exactly the same first and last name that you gave when you bought the software. You can get the registration window in the menu "Option" of BlueCalc or after 15th time you start the demo. Don't mix up the first and last name and lastname when you register. If you have problems registering, contact me (LucasEdouard@handylife.com). After you've registered you don't have to do it any more. You can start BlueCalc anytime you want. This software is copyright protected so you are not allowed to distribute it. The registration code is linked to the name of the customer. You can check it in the "About BlueCalc" menu. So when you buy this product you are responsible not to distribute it.

This function lets you link your formulae. The numbers you enter will not be cleared when you switch between these linked formulae. Example :

A star is present next to the second title showing that this formula is linked.

• This new version support now VGA screens, any other resolution or landscape mode. Nevertheless, it's not optimized for Windows mobile 2003 second edition.
• There is a new virtual keyboard that lets you insert faster your numbers.
• You can use any bitmap resolution for the wallpaper. It will be automatically stretched to fit the whole screen. Hi resolution VGA bitmaps can be used.
• There is a default medical form free for all users of BlueCalc.
• The interface has been improved.
• The description window for the formulae has been improved and support now html tags.

The precision of this calculator is perfect. No bugs have been reported until today. With the great success of BlueCalc it seems that this calculator will quickly be one of the most used on PocketPC.
